How It Works
on Wednesday 12.6.2024 You will have a week to develop a game around the concept and the instructions I will post. You will have to send a video of the project by 6:00 p.m. 19.6.2024. After that, voting will take place and the winning project will be announced.
12.6 we started!!!!!!!
The gamejam concept: beyond reality - supernatural powers- Beyond reality: Let your imagination run wild! You have to create a game where the characters can use supernatural powers, explore alternate dimensions, move between temporal eras, control time and even change reality itself.
- supernatural powers: Your game must contain things that cannot exist in the real world! To have supernatural powers or things!.
Ideas for inspiration (no obligation to use, you can also combine several things together! You don't have to have one):
- Creating a special weapon: Magical or technological weapons with different and unique abilities.
- Exploring alternate dimensions: Transition between different dimensions with different physical and realistic laws.
- Transition between temporal ages: An experience of different time periods, from antiquity to the distant future.
- Time control: Slow down, speed up or reverse the flow of time, which affects the environment and puzzle solving.
- Transition between parallel worlds: Different worlds with different physics sets, each dimension offers different challenges and puzzle solutions.
- Telekinetic ability: Moving objects, breaking barriers and controlling other characters using no physical contact.
- A cosmic weapon with unique powers: Changing the reality around him, like freezing time or changing materials, weapons like the rate of the gravity gun or any other supernatural weapon that comes to mind with any other unimaginative mechanics.
- Ability to change the structure of reality: A physical change of the environment, such as turning water into ice, rapid growth of plants or changing the shape of the terrain.
- Contrasting alternate worlds: Creating worlds with reversed laws of physics, such as a world where gravity is reversed or time moves backwards.
- Worlds of dreams and nightmares: A transition between the worlds of sleep and imagination, where in each world the rules of the game change according to the character's moods.
- A weapon that changes space: A weapon capable of creating new spaces or changing the terrain configuration in real time.
- A weapon that projects feelings: A weapon that can project different feelings such as fear, joy or pain on the enemies.
References for inspiration:
- Games: Portal, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Control, Dishonored, Minecraft
- Movies: The Matrix, Inception, Interstellar, Arrival, Harry Potter
- Books: The Chronicles of Narnia, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, The Lord of the Rings, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Competition rules - no limits! You are allowed to use anything ready you want, of course if you use models/effects or anything else you did not create you must say so and update what you created from 0 and what you took ready.
Important advice for GameJam participants:
The concept:
Focus on one central idea: Choose one central and fascinating idea that will form the basis of your game. Don't try to put too many ideas together, it can make for a confusing and unclear game.
Keep it simple: It's better to focus on simple and effective game mechanics than trying to introduce overly complex systems. Remember that your time is limited, and you should focus on what can be effectively implemented.
Be original: try to think of new and unique ideas that have not been done before. Use your imagination and choose a trend that will make your game stand out.
Use the GameJam theme in a creative way: think about how you can integrate the GameJam theme ("beyond reality") in an interesting and fascinating way within your game.Game development:
Plan the game in advance: Before you start writing code, it is important to plan your game in an orderly manner. This will help you avoid mistakes and save time during development.
Use appropriate development tools: There are many development tools available for free that can help you create your game. Choose the tool that best suits your needs and your level of experience.
Test your game regularly: It is important to test your game regularly during development to make sure it works properly and is fun to play.
Get feedback from others: Share your game with friends, family or other GameJam participants and take their feedback into account. This will help you improve your game and turn it into a finished product.Introducing the game:
Create an engaging demo video: The demo video is your chance to impress the judges and make them want to play your game. Be sure to create a high-quality and attractive video that presents the main idea of the game and its unique features.
Write a clear and professional game description: The game description is a place where you can give potential players more information about your game. Be sure to write a clear and professional description that explains what your game offers and what makes it unique.Additional tips:
Be partners: Collaborating with other GameJam participants can be a great way to learn and develop. Share ideas, help each other with programming and art, and give feedback on others' work.
Don't despair: game development can be difficult and challenging. If you encounter problems, don't despair! Just keep trying and looking for solutions.
Most importantly - have fun! Gamejams are a great way to learn, create and have fun. So let your imagination run wild and enjoy the process!Good luck at GameJam!
